Splitting Up with HDMI
When we talk about convenience, we talk about technology and how it has made our lives more convenient and relaxing. Most of us love spending our free time watching television, playing video games, using our computers or just enjoying movies on our home theaters. A new addition to enhance our enjoyment is the HDMI. This interface gives us much better quality of picture and sound and one enjoys watching or playing much more. Forgetting what is HDMI? Well, here’s a reminder. It is widely known as the High Definition Multimedia Interface. It provides digital connectivity and has become the latest face of cable connections. It offers different audio channels without any convertor assistance. This has been recently seen in the HDTVs and home theaters, also in different interactive video games and personal computers.
Why is HDMI superior?
- Mainly because of the quality it provides in terms of high resolution, better colors and neat brightness. It saves us from distorted pictures and scrambled voices.
There are several different products available in the market like cables, switches, HDMI over IP or HDMI over cat. There is one more product which is the HDMI Splitter
What is an HDMI Splitter?
- It is a product which gives DVD Players, home theaters, set top boxes and other high definition devices an HDMI output which can be connected to two or more than two HDTVs, HD-DVD etc. It can be used to send multiple signals to other HDMI displays.
- If we connect two or more of these splitters then these will act like flexible distribution channels.
- As the name implies, the HDMI Splitters can split the signals to specific distances from the source.
- There are also HDMI Cable Splitters, HDMI Port Splitters and signal splitters.
What should be considered while purchasing a splitter?
- Before buying a splitter, keep a record of the number of displays that you are going to split to.
- Make sure that you do not diminish the signals.
- Compare the prices and features of different splitters and make your decision likewise.
- Do not worry about the picture being distorted or sound being scrambled even if you’re buying a low priced or a discounted priced splitter because the thing with splitters is that if the splitter works fine then it will give the perfect image but in case it does not work then it will not work at all.
Any other important information about the HDMI Splitters?
- Do not confuse the Splitters with the HDMI Switches. Both of these are different products and serve different purposes.
- HDMI Splitter connects different displays to a single source.
- If you are using a splitter for your DVD player or HDTV then make sure your TV has more than one port otherwise, you might lose the picture because splitters do not connect more than one source to one display.
- Get yourself an HDMI switch, repeater, equalizer or a repeater for better quality.
